6 March 2024New project offers a hand-up to homeless individuals in the Kent region
Richibucto, January 10th, 2024 – The Kent Regional Service Commission (KRSC), in collaboration with the Richibucto RCMP Detachment and Vitalité Health Network, are launching a new project aimed at assisting homeless individuals and those facing personal challenges. The initiative, inspired by the Woodstock Police, involves preparing twenty backpacks filled with essential items to help people stay dry and warm during the winter months, along with other necessary supplies.
Thanks to the generous donations from the Suicide Prevention Committee, Shoppers Drugmart Richibucto, and the KRSC, twenty backpacks were filled with warm clothing, such as hats, gloves, and scarves, as well as blankets, hand warmers, and other items that can help people stay warm and dry. Additionally, the backpacks contained non-perishable snacks and toiletries to provide further support.
Over the upcoming winter months, the Richibucto RCMP detachment will distribute the bags to the homeless population in the Kent Region. By providing these basic supplies to people who are facing personal challenges, we can help to improve their quality of life and offer resources to help them stay healthy and safe.
The Kent Regional Service Commission (KRSC) is a public organization established under the Regional Service Delivery Act and is responsible for the delivery of a large number of services within the Kent region such as land use planning, solid waste management, community development, economic development and public safety.
