Richibucto, November 15th 2023 – Mgr-Marcel-François-Richard Highschool has partnered with various associations to create a Forestry Skills Program. The main objective of this program is to reduce the high school drop-out rate by equipping students with the necessary skills to pursue a career in silviculture, forestry, and landscaping. The program’s goal is to create partnerships between students, the school, and local companies to provide internships that offer immediate employment and long-term career opportunities.
The Kent Regional Service Commission firmly believes in supporting our youth as they are the future. To help support the Forestry Skills Program, the KRSC has donated $2500.00 to cover the cost of the two-day NB Forest Safety Association course for the students. Additionally, Sealand Power Sport, a local business owned by an MFR Alumni – Christian Poirier, has also contributed by donating a chainsaw for the hands-on learning aspect of the course, allowing the students to have more practical experience with the equipment.
The Kent Regional Service Commission has been offering its services to the population since 2013. The organization has two mandatory mandates, namely local planning and solid waste management, as well as several responsibilities in terms of regional collaboration. With the local governance reform, the KRSC also offers social inclusion, community development and community transportation services. Visit www.krsc.ca
